Schools
The Marana Unified School District was founded in the early 1920s and now boasts more than 13,000 students, 1,800 employees and 17 schools. Marana schools have a reputation for excellence; in fact, nine Marana schools have been designated "A-Plus Schools" and three have received the "National Blue Ribbon" honor. Dove Mountain has donated acreage for a future school. In the meantime, Dove Mountain students attend public schools at Ironwood Elementary, Tortolita Middle School and Mountain View High School. District transportation is provided from Dove Mountain to all three schools.
Additionally, the Tucson area hosts several private schools, including the well-respected Green Fields Country Day School (grades K-12), Pusch Ridge Christian Academy (grades 6-12), Salpointe Catholic High School (grades 9-12) and St. Gregory College Preparatory School (grades 6-12). Tucson is home to the University of Arizona, a top-ranked public university with a stellar reputation in academics and athletics. Additionally, Pima Community College's newest campus is just eight miles from Dove Mountain and offers a unique alternative to university life.
